Hunger pains and uneasy feeling when eating

Recommended Posts

It's been so long it's hard to recognize hunger pains..but I do appear to be getting them. I thought we wouldn't feel hunger for a while. I am also not able to eat my normal 3 oz..my stomach feels uneasy and getting a dull aching pain when I eat. I'm 5 weeks out and this is new for me..never had any problems or intolerances except with the Protein shakes..anyone else experience this? I'm thinking of going back to liquid diet if it continues. I don't enjoy eating right now anyway because it's started to feel uncomfortable.

I'm only two weeks out, and I swear I had hunger pains last night.

I would have pains when my sleeve would get completely empty post-op that kinda felt like hunger pains. And I would get queasy and have an odd bubble pain behind my breast bone if I drank or ate too fast. For the first couple of weeks, the answer was to always be sipping on something - Water or Protein drink. That kept something in the sleeve, kept me hydrated, and the sipping (and I mean REALLY TINY sips) kept me from drinking too fast and getting pains. It's a learning experience to be sure.

I had them and then when I went on Prevacid I realized it was stomach acid. Not hunger pangs. Boom they were gone within hours

I think that's my issue..I'm doing intermittent fasting as well..no solids till around 11:00-7:00 but I do drink a Protein Soup in the morning with my Vitamins..maybe it's just not enough to keep me going.

Yeah I can't seem to get my profile to show I'm out of pre op either.

That is a very good description of what I am gong thru. Hunger pangs, and yet an uneasy, slightly queasy feeling. I thought it was my Premiere shakes, but having the pangs now, and the last shake I had was this morning. And I am on Prilosec, but will keep that theory in mind...

Your experience is very similar to mine. Thanks for sharing!

This is good to know. I have a prescription that my Dr gave my for stomach acid but haven't been taking it because I thought I didn't have it. Maybe I'm mistaking this for hunger?? I'm going to try my Prevacid!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
