Hey!

I'm scheduled to be sleeved on Jan 16 (with mixed support from the people I love)!

I'm supposed to start a liquid diet the day after tomorrow. I have mixed feelings. I know this is something I want, and that people's major regret is not doing it sooner, but I can't shake the feeling that things (portions, food choices, well-meaning friends' questions, drinking) will never be the same.

I quit smoking years ago without mourning it, but the final cigarette was emotional. Seeking advice or words of wisdom or encouragement as I stop my bad habits, and l say goodbye to overeating, for the pre-sleeve liquid diet.

Thanks!

I had my procedure 12/13/16.

I am not going to lie you, you will probably go through a phase of mourning/missing the food choices you made previously.

You are right things will not be the same, however that is why I had the surgery. I did not want things to be the same. I needed a drastic change to stop me in my tracks from destroying the one body I was given.

Mixed feelings at this stage is normal and expect an emotional roller coaster as you approach surgery on the liquid diet.

I have not struggled since the procedure(craving food)even with all the Christmas meals/desserts. I am still on liquids until 12/28 then I will start puréed.

You can do this but you are right things will be completely different. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
