Low functioning fat man...

This morning I had a quiche at my in laws. All I ate of it was the egg portion. Good so far. We usually do a breakfast and gift exchange, come home for a few hours and go back for dinner. That didn't happen. I ran out of my drink, tried Water and my stomach got upset. Plain water still doesn't work for me! Dinner didn't happen until 3:30 and the ham tasted like salt. No ham flavor whatsoever! Pink freakin salt! Otherwise there were carrots cooked in brown sugar and butter, scalloped potatoes, rolls and a zucchini dish that had some cheese and breading. Needless to say, I didn't eat squat! Man did I screw up!

Suffered through the same thing yesterday at my inlaws. Their methods of cooking are very different than mine and I nibbled on turkey, and "pink salt"... the rest was not my friend. Next year I will have a stash of cheese and salami in my purse!! Or something like that. Plain Water makes me yuck too.

Sargento makes those nut, cheese and berry snack packs. Nice punch of Protein and properly portioned. I am a year out and have learned I always need to stash one in my bag before going to a food/family gathering. While we don't get hungry like before, ya still need to be able to eat on a consistent schedule!

I love quiche, and I also eat the egg portion. It's so good! Sorry to hear that the foods for the remainder of the day didn't work out.

I hosted a Christmas afternoon appetizer get together. I made chicken Cranberry and Brie tarts, (good except for the puff pastry), Turkey meatballs glazed with Apple Cider Bourbon sauce (sugar free...no one knew!), Shrimp Cocktail, and a nut and cheese tray with green chili salsa/cream cheese side. I nibbled all day and felt guilty but afterwards realized I hadn't eaten too much. It was a grazing day. Actually woke up this morning a pound lighter so go figure.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
