Bursitis and Sleeve

Recommended Posts

Hi y'all and Merry Christmas from South Texas! It was a ridiculous 81 degree weather here today. That shouldn't be allowed!

Other than that, I have yet to be sleeved and hope it to be early this next year. Currently I am dealing with bursitis in my hip and it is painful. Now, I know anyone, no matter age, size, can get it, but I'd like to know if any of you who have been sleeved with bursitis have felt the pain alleviate or go away??? I'm wondering if my extra weight is a factor.

I've been having hip pain for several years. Im still not entirely sure it's my hips but i can't think of anything else it could be. What does it feel like for you? For me its very stiff and painful. The front of my thighs at the top near My groin hurts so much. It makes me not walk and not want to. I don't know if it's bursitis. I have a bad back and sciatica so it could be anything. Id love some insight tho.

P.S. i have been sleeved since 10/5/16 lost 38 lbs so far. I have good and bad days. I've lost over 50lbs overall (pre and post op). I haven't noticed a big change in pain just yet. I suffer from chronic back pain so I'm on the look out for pain reduction as my weight goes down

Mine went away.

Sleeved 8/31/16

First noted I was pain free, when my husband and I attended Desert Trip back in early October. Easily did the walking with no pain :-). It occasionally flares up when I overdo it, but nothing like it was.

That's a dream to me right now. I don't think I've been talking to the right doctors. I need some guidance. I was thinking of waiting until i drop some more weight. Maybe evaluate myself every 20 or so pounds? I feel like if it doesn't improve in another 20lbs I'll talk to my gp about it and see what she says. But is there a specific type of doctor i should consider seeing just in case?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
