CherCare 34 Posted December 26, 2016 (edited) Ok. This settles it for me. There is too much drama, rudeness and thinskinnedness (if that's a word) around here. It was very helpful before surgery. Just about every question I had about the surgery, healing, and life after surgery had already been covered. I learned so much and felt like I really knew what I was getting into. For that I thank you all. Now, I just don't feel the support. I might as well be at a family dinner where the subject of politics comes up. No fun. I have found a couple of good groups on fb. Some are private, some aren't. I've seen a few of you on those sites. I think that will work better for me. But I think it's important for all of us that we find support and accountability in the 'real' face to face world. I will be seeing a psychologist and attending the local support group. I've noticed thst people I know who have gained weight back have not done that. They have not addressed their relationship with food. I think that will be critical for me. I wish you all the best. Find what works for you, and be self aware. You know when you're BSing yourself, or looking for unwarranted justification. But that's an area of real need. If you truly have not had struggles through your journey, that's pretty amazing. Most of us have resorted to this step because of our inability to lose weight and eat reasonably by sheer determination alone. The patterns and improper relationship with food are deeply ingrained. Socongratulations on your success and thank you for the encouragement. Be well, be determined, and for goodness sake, be kind. Greensleevie 451 Posted December 26, 2016 I'm about 2 weeks post opp and I'm literally ready to eat. Like I can't take it anymore. Has anyone tried mashed potatoes or very soft mac & cheese in their early stages of being sleeved? I'm about to ask my surgeon what I can eat. Even if it's hummus I'll be pleased. I know it's mind over matter but I'm sick of chicken noodle Soup and applesauce. How did you guys cope with the cravings? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App The head hunger is horrible at that stage. Call your surgeon as soon as you know he will be in and ask if you can progress to soft food. I had a friend that did that and he allowed it. If so, stick with things high in Protein like refried Beans, Riccotta Bake, soft eggs etc. Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes are not ideal for a post bariatric diet. I did soft/pureed diet without mashed potato one. Once you start eating more 'real' food, the cravings and head hunger should go away. On another note, a positive attitude is everything in order to be successful with these surgeries. I suggest you do an attitude adjustment or you will struggle. Start by losing that huge chip on your shoulder. That alone should be a few pounds.

Hahaha I think I'm content with the 30 pounds I've lost in less than 2 weeks for now, so the chip will stay right there Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
