February Sleevers -- Let's Do This Together

Recommended Posts

Doing good. Feel a little tired and weak today but still able to put down all my fluids and Protein so hoping that starts to make a difference. I think I'm experiencing some caffeine withdrawals, I really screwed up by not quitting altogether before surgery- I figured taking it down to 1/3 my normal intake would work out....I guess I was wrong. Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. You guys are the best[emoji106]

No problem, don't mind praying AT ALL. I haven't experienced much weakness. The liquids my office had me to get has what I need I guess. But glad to hear your well. I'll keep in touch my dear.

I'm having surgery on Tuesday, February 28! I am extremely nervous I am on this cabbage Soup diet has anyone ever tried it?

Ive done that cabbage Soup in the past i must say i do like it. Keep strong we can do it. Im on day 5 of pre surgery diet, a lot of veggie Soups and fruit smoothies im surviving. I stay away from temptation and talk daily with my therapist. I tried this app called TalkSpace its pretty cool.

I had my surgery on Feb 20. Got home the next day and learned real fast how slow I have to drink. Been on Phase 2 (clear liquids and Protein shakes) for 4 days now.

Thr first few days at home, I would wake up during the night with the worse dry mouth ever. That was a sign that I probably wasn't drinking enough throughout that day so I upped my liquid intake and have not woken up with dry mouth since.

sleeping on my side was impossible the first few days but now that I'm 6 days out, I have no problem moving to my side now.

I finally got ouf of the house yesterday and today and realized how tired I was at the end of the day. Tomorrow I start Vitamins, Calcium and B12 so hopefully more energy will follow soon.

i see the doctor on Tuesday and I hope to start having soft foods soon.

I sit at the dinner table with my family sipping my Protein shake while they eat. I wouldn't be honest if I said I didn't miss the food. But I also know that there is no way I can eat anything now as my stomache needs to heal.

We can all totally relate to everything you're saying, Beth!!! I had my surgery on the 17th and 9 days out feels amazing. Losing weight every day! This is sooooo worth it!! I went to the grocery store to get some things and you really notice how they have all the junk at eye level!!! Kind of torturous but I just looked away and strutted my little self right on by! :) Glad you're doing well!

I was sleeved on 2/22 with a hiatal hernia repair. Feeling pretty good by Saturday and getting over 100 oz of  liquid and 75g of  Protein. I'm on Clear   liquids and Protein   shakes for 3 weeks before advancing.

Things I learned... did you know that surgery can eliminate the urge and ability to pee?? When I couldn't "go" in the hospital, they ultrasounded my bladder and said it was totally full and if I couldn't go, they would put in a catheter. So I strained like I was constipated and finally was able to get some out. As of today I finally feel the need to go and it's no longer any effort to let it out. Weird.

My stomach was numb the first day so I didn't feel my incisions until day 2.

I haven't had pain meds since I left the hospital the day after. I got liquid pain meds and the taste was so bad, I figured I'd rather hurt. It wasn't that bad. I did have a headache from the day of surgery (Wednesday) until Saturday morning which I think was anesthesia, pain meds, and then not enough liquids. It's gone now.

The binder they gave me in the hospital is awesome. It supports your tummy and makes walking a lot easier.

I have to give myself blood thinner shots for 2 weeks because of family history. Watching youtube videos helped a lot. It's not fun, but I'm doing it.

I was dehydrated after my first day home so I really buckled down Saturday and today to get enough liquids. I feel so much better!

I didn't have bad post surgery gas, but the gas from this  liquid diet is not nice.

I still can't burp. I think he removed my burper.

I didn't gain anything with surgery. Down 4.6 so far.

I get a little lightheaded sometimes. I think I'm just used to a lot more calories!

Hope everyone is doing really well!

Thanks! I keep falling asleep. But I've been sucking on ice chips like a champ. I can't wait for my first walk to try to work out some of this gas pain.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
