Dehydration?

How do you know you are dehydrated enough to go to the hospital? I feel pretty good during the day but at night I wake up constantly with severe dry mouth.

A sure sign of dehydration is diarrhea. Not sure if it changes because of the surgery (I would think not), but be mindful of it.

Hey I am about 9 days post opp. Met with my surgeon today for the follow up appointment and he sent me to ER for dehydration. In my case whenever I would move just to go to the bathroom, move to comb my hair or even put on clothes I would instant have to rush to my bed to lay down and I was out of breath. I thought it was cause I was weak but it was because of dehydration. Mouth constantly dry as well. My surgeon said you are suppose to take in 48-64 oz of fluids a day. 4 oz every hour. Sip every 15 mins. Go to the ER and let them give you 2 or 3 ivy Fluid bags. You will feel better. Also if you can't keep regular bottled Water down or if it's hard to sip try baby Water. I now use gerber pure water. You can get it at your local Walmart. It goes down without a problem. Good luck!

@@goldenbarbie thanks for the info. Only have the dry mouth at night. I don't have issues drinking just not drinking enough and don't want to go over that line of too much dehydration. I have no bathroom issues, actually quite the opposite lol . Hope you are feeling better now.

Haha thanks. I felt so tired doing everything not realizing it was due to dehydration. But deff go get some Ivy fluids from the hospital if you want better to be safe than sorry

Dry mouth by itself is not a sign of dehydration. The best way to tell is to check the color of your urine. It should be clear, very pale yellow. The darker and smellier it is the more dehydrated you are. Dehydration can also cause dizziness, lethargy and confusion.

I was dehydrated at about 4 weeks out and it caused other issues but it's so easy to fix just drink Water. Literally I put my mind to it forced myself to drink and now I am completely fine.

I started have Gatorade G2, with my Water, first night I havent woken up with severe dry mouth. Yeah!!!
