Just finished the liquids. Had my surgery Tuesday. The liquids were VERY difficult. A few times I had small bites of food. But I can tell you this. Those cravings and hunger pains are GONE post op. Any time I felt hungry I had broth or Jell-O. As much as I wanted!

I'm having my surgery done on the 3rd & currently on a liquid diet as well. It's challenging indeed, even though my surgeon allows me to eat 800-1000 calories a day, I'm trying my hardest to stick to just liquids. I definitely made sure I had something to do every day, to keep me extra busy, until the 3rd...it's helping a lot! lmao

So I have my surgery on 12/29/2016 and I am in my 1000 calorie diet. The first 2 days I was like OMG I need a cheeseburger I am so hungry and then my husband was like can u pick me up some Burger King. I go there and yes I ate 1 nugget but I really wanted a cheeseburger. But I am hanging in there and getting ready for this 3 day liquid diet. That's what I am scared of, does anybody have any suggestions on how to make it through these 3 days of liquids.

I'm on five shakes a day and Clear Liquids. I've been on it for 6 days now and my surgery is Monday.

For me, I have to take it one day at a time. If I start thinking about it as a week long, I feel like I can't do it. If I focus on the timeline of five shakes and some broth and Powerade zero when I need a different taste, I can do it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
