Drunk water after eating

Recommended Posts

Lol, yes. A couple of sips isn't going to hurt you. The rule is technically more for bypass people, but it does also effect sleeve people. It's just preventing the food from washing through your stomach faster so you get the nutrients and stay satisfied longer. It won't physically hurt you or anything. I have heard some people will vomit if they drink too soon after though.

My surgeon said it is ok to have tiny sips to wet your mouth. Just don't drink as usual right after eating.

Bypass here and Lordy it DID physically hurt me in the form of cramping and find a bathroom NOW lol. It was definitely a mistake I only needed to make once.

I have had that happen..a sip n be like crap!!!! But nothing happens n I end up doing something else til time passes...usually I don't have a drink anywhere near me when I'm eating so I won't make the mistake.????

I've puked from taking a sip of Water directly after eating. Sometimes, I have to wait an hour or more until my tummy feels up to drinking again.

Yes I made that mistake the other day, I am almost three weeks out from my sleeve surgery and I nearly lost my lunch when I did, it was an awful feeling. I won't make that mistake again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
