No where else to vent

Recommended Posts

Sorry this is not really totally weight loss related but I have no real other outlet for this. Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary, or rather what should be my anniversary. It is a day I should be celebrating with my husband. But that joy and celebration was stolen from me by the person who promised he would never leave. Five months ago on what I thought was a normal Friday I went to work and my husband was taking our two younger kids to spend the day with their older sister. Well after he acted like everything was perfectly normal he came home from dropping off the kids and packed up everything of his from the house, he took half of the little bit of money we had and I got a text that said I'm sorry this isn't working for me anymore, I'm moving out. We had not been fighting, things had been fine or so I thought.

I try really hard to keep a happy face on for the kids but I am still grieving the loss of my marriage so much. When I first had surgery he was very supportive but it seemed as I got smaller he became more and more withdrawn. Things really felt like they shifted when I became smaller then him. He is a husky guy but has never been obese though. Thankfully I have never been really an emotional eater so through all of this I have still continued to lose weight and keep up with my goals but it is so hard.

I guess I don't really have a major point to this thread. I'm not really looking for sympathy or anything, just needed somewhere to vent for a minute. I don't have any real outlet.

Reree, tomorrow I'll drink a toast, not to your anniversary, but to you and the fact that, despite the grief, you've had the strength to keep it together. It's unfair that your husband gave you no info beyond the vague "not working any more." That you've been as strong as you have for yourself and the kids says something exceptional about you.

You should be extremely proud of yourself for your success with your weight loss. Such an emotional blow would have caused many to go off track, but you've made wonderful progress. I'm sorry for all the grief you've gone through.

I am really sorry to see you have to go through this. It is hard enough on you, but it has got to be even harder for the children, regardless of their ages. Seeing people going through things like this is always discouraging for me. I want to jump in and help them get things back to where they need to be, but so many times it doesn't work out.

I hope you continue to do well with your weight loss. You have done a great job so far. And I hope the new year brings more positive things into your life than negative.

Wow. That is a crushing blow, and I'm so sorry your gutless husband bailed in such a weenie way. I think no explanation is terrible -- so hard to move forward when you have no idea what is going on. I had a boyfriend ghost me after a year of dating, and that was devastating enough. I can't imagine a husband after years of marriage doing it, but I know it happens.

I'm very sorry for your loss of a marital partner, but I'm very proud of your weight lost -- over 170 lbs on your own, and dead weight from your spineless ex.

Shame on him for being a coward! What an awful way to treat you and an terrible thing to do to your children. Not giving you any explanation, he must not have a good one. You're doing great despite everything you're going through keep it up! Just remember you matter & so do your children and don't let this or his actions make you think anything different. You've done nothing wrong so don't stop taking care of yourself and your children and things will only get better. I know this saying isn't always a comfort but I do believe it's true "Things happen for a reason". Wishing you continued success with your WLS and a Happy Holiday to you and your children and most of all a better 2017. Take care of your precious angels they need you more now and they will keep your heart going and glowing! You're worth it so reach for the stars and remember we're always here for you too! :)

I'm really proud of you for sticking to your plan during an emotional time like this. I will say if you look good and you are over 40, you pretty much have your pick of men. I'm a super model around these parts. Lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
