First time regurgitated

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was so hungry when I got home from work that I started eating a chicken breast so fast that it got stuck going down. I tried to walk around to get it to move then I drank a few sips of Water and then it all came up. My husband was really shaken and nervous . I told him I was alright. I won't eat anymore dry chicken breast.

My surgery was 11/14/16 and I have my first fill 01/05/17. I'm still learning to eat slow and chew all my food completely.

Hi there! I have done that a couple of times too. Mostly just out of habit I stop thinking and just eat. I haven't puked. But felt pretty uncomfortable. Fortunately it seems to go away and I am fine the rest of the day.

Get used to it...it's all part of the learning curve.

This and other lessons to learn will "Change your life"

That's what it is all about. Forced to eat the way a skinny -thin person does so you will become one also.

BTW, over the years I've read posts where a person will get stuck (probably from eating the wrong foods the wrong way) But will panic, blame the band, and get Fluid taken out so they can eat the way they want to.

What's the point??? Why have surgery???

Oh, and wait till it happens in a restaurant.

Oh no I hope to never do that at a restaurant. I'm scared to eat, but I guess that's good because I'm forced to think about what I'm about to eat.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Hi there @@rosemarie

chicken is one of those foods that many have trouble with -- too fibrous, I think. At home I cook thighs down in stock to soften and that is very delicious. The band is all about chewing, chewing, chewing. I still have issues with a lifetime of eating too quickly, especially if I am distracted. That's the main thing, for me, the awareness and really paying attention to what I am eating.

I love my band!

Thanks for the suggestions. How much have you lost with the band and how long did it take?

Also it's a going to be a learning process. What others can tolerate some can't. I cannot tolerate bread or corn products. I didn't know that at first until I've had embarrassing episode of vomiting after eating when I was on vacation in Europe. I was hungry and ate way to fast. You'll learn!

chicken breast doesn't like me.

I'm with bandista. Chicken thighs braised in liquid is a frequent and regular feature at my house

Gotta keep trying what will work for you.

It took me a long while and I still get reminded if I don't chew ..

Finally tho (after a few years )I learned not to drink with meals.

Best of luck and please keep posting!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
