Travel 2 weeks post op

I think it'll be fine. I'm a flight attendant and I plan on going back to work after week 3 -Jan 29th, (or that's the plan ) But I suppose only your doctor can say for sure...

But I'll let you know how it goes!

Odd question but I've wanted to put my app in for a flight attendant, however I was told that 1) being larger, I wouldn't get past the interview, and 2) because I have visible tattoos (though tasteful), I didn't have a chance either.

Best of luck on your surgery and recovery!

Well. I think the main concern is whether you can fit into the restraints on a flight attendant jump seat. Also it's a very physical job. If you can fit the restraints and you can lift and push and bend with ease. Then you can do the job.

They can't discriminate against weight unless it compromises safety or service.

As for tattoos... you can choose to not tell them when they ask, ( and they will ask). And you'll just have to always wear pants.. or long sleeves...

I say just go for it.

I'm able to fly comfortably now and have gone from a 22, needing an extender to fit in the seats, down to a 10/12 (maybe less since I just had skin removal), and all restraints needed to be tightened. I think I will go for it since long sleeves and pants don't bother me at all. Thank you! :)

Everyone is SO different! You'll have to see how you do after surgery. Buy insurance on your plane tickets so you can get a refund if you need to. There is just no way to predict how YOU will feel after this surgery.

I left the hospital with no weight restrictions. I was on Tylenol only, and that was only for a couple of days. I have been walking one mile on my treadmill since the day after discharge (so day 2 after surgery) I was out to a very formal event, including a restaurant, on day 3 after surgery. We had to walk about 6 blocks from the parking garage to the venue. I took it slow, but was able to do it. I had a broth-based Soup and ate only the broth. Having Water with you at all times, and sipping constantly, is absolutely crucial. Bring Protein drinks with you, and you can get a note from your doctor to get them through security. At the airport you can request a handicap assist and get a wheelchair escort.

All of my friends and I turn 50 this year and also have a trip to Vegas planned. I would have to be on my deathbed to miss it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
