Goals

Hello everyone! I was just reading some other threads and it got me thinking to myself about my goals. They were discussing being able to cross their legs at a certain pants size, and another about certain sexual positions not acheivable the size they were at the time. I do not have an actual weight goal, I just wanted to go down a few sizes and keep the weight off this time. I usually tell people my true goal is to beable to sit on my hubbies lap w/out feeling like a "blob". So lets hear it, what are your "goals"???

Weird! One of the things I'm most looking forward to is being able to sit in my boyfriend's lap for the first time...lol

Hmm, my other goal is to be able to walk into the mall, go into any store, and find clothes in my size!

My "goal" list from February 19 2005 (copied and pasted from my blog)

What I am looking forward to after I have had the surgery;

#1 Being able to sit with my legs crossed

#2 Walking, not waddling

#3 Being able to shop in the regular clothes department, not the Plus Size.

#4 Not being looked at when I eat in public

#5 Wearing a swimsuit, and taking my son swimming

#6 Feeling full when I eat.

#7 Wearing a smaller cup bra (I can wish!)

#8 Being under a size 18 again

#9 Being "cured" of my diabetes

#10 Being thin again

I am pleased to say, I have reached every single one of those goals.

my goal is to Water ski - I've always been a watcher bc I've been to heavy for my own arms to support my weight. Maybe next summer.

Well, exciting goals I have reached, are to be smaller than my driver's license says (especially since I was lying at the time), at the same time, that made me smaller than when I graduated high school. In one more jeans size (I'm a 14 right now), I'll be smaller than when I was 14 (I remember this because I moved to a new school and was wearing a size 14 that year).

Anything smaller than that, my little brain doesn't really remember, so that's all new territory!!

I want to be able to walk in heels. I can walk in them, but by the end of the day/night my feet are killing me. There are women who wear them every day just fine, and I want to be like that. I wouldn't wear them every day, but I don't want to have a crisis every time I have to wear nice shoes because I know my feet are going to kill at the end of the night!

I decided not to set goals because if I didn't reach them, I didn't want to feel that I had failed. Kind of like -- expect nothing, and then you're never disappointed. I wanted to hit a size 18 because as I gained weight, that's where I last felt comfortable. I'm pretty much there now, still need the occasional 20s on bottom.

From there, I would like to hit 180 because I was pretty damn yummy at 180 (I'm between 5'10 & 5'11, so 180 isn't as bad as it sounds).

I did once have a target of "obese" BMI. When I was banded my BMI was close to 55. That's off most BMI charts, and well beyond "super morbidly obese". I wanted to at least be on the charts.

My BMI is now about 34. I'm now "obese" and within 20 - 30 pounds of just being "overweight."

I just wish I could construct a mental model for my new self. Maybe I should make that my goal.

Marimaru, I wear heels and the trick is the type of heel. Very very few women can wear any thin heels above pumps (3") without pain - they're just good at walking through it. Wedge heels - I could wear all day and never think twice about it. :car:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
