December 21st - Today's the Day!

Recommended Posts

Okay, just figured out how to join this group. My surgery is 2:15 p.m. today, which means I'm currently STARVIVNG and trying to keep my mind of food + keep my nerves in check! Any other Dec. 21 peeps out there? Would love to hear from everyone coming out of surgery. Good luck to all!

I made it. Now in recovery for the night. They discovered and repaired a hiatal hernia so my "cover" really isn't a lie anymore. Only pain I'm feeling is pressure in my chest. So far, so good! How about my surgery twins? Would love to hear from you!

@ my surgery was December 21st as well..I'm super sore, it's hard getting up and down..

Don't know how I'm going to get in all my Protein and water..hurts to take in deep breaths...I'm just taking it easy these first couple of days...don't feel like eating...

Praying for a way to do all this!

Had my surgery on 12/20. I'm feeling pretty good. Been sleeping in a recliner because I have pain when I lie on my side. Incision pain is my problem right now, I apply heat and it usually resolves. Looking forward to advancing my diet on Saturday to full liquids and get some more Protein in. How is everyone else doing?

Hi @@nursemichelle7,

How is your incision pain now? Mine is so bad that I can barely do anything at all. (Sleeved on 12/21) The incision looks good but underneath that there is an awful burning pulling feeling. My doctor said it was a big stitch in the muscle. It never seems to get better.... so frustrating. Wondered what your situation is like since you had yours a day earlier?

Best, paige

Hi all - I was also sleeved 12/21 and have the same burning/pulling pain around the incisions on either side of my belly button. I'm still taking my pain meds every four hours (I took time off work so I'm just puttering around the house). I'm wondering if I am supposed to be weaning off the pain meds and trying to manage with just Tylenol?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
