I am eight days post-op. As of yesterday when I had my 1 week visit with my Dr, I was doing very well with pain, Water intake, full liquids and walking. Yesterday afternoon I started feeling very tired to the point of turning off my phones and just laying in bed from about 6pm but not sleeping just tired, now this morning I was planning my first solo outing, but I still have that tired feeling. Should I be alarmed by this? Is it normal? Thank you for your input.

I am 3 weeks post-op and my energy level and sleep patterns have been a roller coaster. I only napped the day of surgery, went shopping several times during my recovery so I returned to work after two weeks. Now that I have been back at work, I do get very sleep and drained about halfway through my day. I think it's all normal. Your body is adjusting.

The first few days I slept really well, for close to 2 weeks I had trouble sleeping, now when I go to bed I sleep through to my alarm every morning! I haven't done THAT in years.

Just remember if you are laying down for naps (or just lying down) - you should still get up and walk 5 minutes out of every hour.

I struggled with fatigue for the first couple months actually. I wish I could say there was a magic "fix" that I did to get over it but I really just had to power through it and once I forced myself to start exercising more, that seemed to help break it. At 8 days post op - you are extremely low calorie intake and still healing, it's ok to rest. You will eventually have your energy level return and be even greater than it was.

I am also 8 days out and exhaustion is not budging. I think it is our bodies in shock still and recovering without our normal caloric intake. Feel better soon. I need to get vitamines

Fatigue was a severe issue for me for the first couple of weeks. It improved once I was on soft foods and could get more calories in. When you are only getting like 350-450 calories a day in, of course you are going to feel tired! Especially when you are healing up from major surgery still.

Feeling tired is definitely expected. You just had a MAJOR surgery. I am 5 weeks out and I still get tired and feel completely wiped out at times. Last week when I saw my psychiatrist, I mentioned to him that I was so tired lately. He told me that my body is making a huge adjustment between the surgery itself and all of the weight I have lost. It is perfectly normal to be tired.

A few years ago people used to take SIX WEEKS off work after a major surgery like this. Now people expect to feel better in a week and be back at work at 2 weeks.

We had major surgery and are surviving on very few calories, of course we are tired. I am 7+ weeks and still get tired some afternoons if I do too much.

Very normal. I went back to work after 2 weeks, which definately increased my fatigue, but it was a good 8 weeks or so post op before the fatigue was getting better, but it eventually did. Keep up with your vitamins/supplements, and eventually you'll have energy to burn! Hang in there

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
