Search function

Recommended Posts

I tried the search function (advanced) and could not find any posts about the search function. So here comes a rant about the search function.

I have been on this forum for a couple of months this is my first topic (i think I have written 2-3 posts). There is soooo much information here that I have not had the need to write anything :-) Had I found a topic on the search function I would probably have been satisfied by just reading it and would not have needed to write this.

Do people not read - at least the first page of topics under each subject or use the search function? There is often 4-5 of the same question on one page... As somebody who loves information sharing and documentation - we would alle benefit of gathering answers to those under one topic.

I tried the search function this week and it showed no results on the subject hernia. Yea right that thing is just not working. Did you by any chance get it to work when you did a search?

Yes it has worked for several subjects earlier. Just nothing on this.

I just searched for hernia and got several subjects up. Make sure that you are searching the entire forum or the under forum you wish to search and not only the topic you are in.

If people used the search function, then there wouldn't be all those "Are stalls (or 3 week stalls) normal?" or similar questions that we enjoy seeing posted two or three thousand times.

Also, we need to stir up the debate over drinking carbonated beverages and/or the use of straws every few days to keep things lively here.

Search functions can work, and sometimes they don't. Add in that people are lazy, think they're unique, or want personal attention for the same issue 158 other people have written about in the past two weeks. Finish off with the fact that most people don't really read what is posted anyway, and respond to what they think they read or what they want it to mean. Now you have an internet discussion forum. :P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
