Hi im amazed that you can eat 1 week post op. I was on baby rice n Soups for first 2 weeks and only a couple of spoonfuls at a time. Dont give up so soon youve gone thro major surgery. Do you have access to a dietician or specialist nurse? It would prob be a good idea to call them andet them know that you're finding it difficult. Good luck

You incision is not healed and you are still recovering from surgery. The liquid diet is a prescription not a suggestion.

Did you have any pre op education? Are you keeping a food diary? What exactly are you eating?

What are your surgeons guidelines?

You need to get in touch with your team for advice

You need to get in touch with your surgical people and your physiologist. If you can not change your behavior not only were you not ready for this change, you are putting yourself in danger of having some very serious complications. say I sound mean if you like but this is the time to put on the adult pants and start acting accordingly

You need more help than you are going to get on an internet discussion board. Do you have any local support from the Bariatric program you were in? What about friends or family? Are there other medical or counseling resources available to you?

Coming here can be a bit of a help, but you need local people in real life. The surgery is a tool, but if you haven't been taught how to use it, it is not going to work for you. The biggest part of that is how to eat properly from a physical and mental point of view.

I'm not supposed to be eating. And I know that but I find it hard not to. I'm eating pretty much whatever.

You can seriously harm your self by eating whatever you want.!!! Start thinking of the reasons why you had surgery. Its only a few weeks, you can and must do this for yourself. Pull the big girl panties up!!!! Think of the long term benifits. Also try and keep busy.

@@cantstop87 Please...please...please stop eating. You can kill yourself, quite literally.

Imagine you cut your arm open from wrist to elbow and went to the hospital and had it all stitched up. Now imagine someone squeezing and pulling that incision back and forth tearing at the stitches. It will hurt, it will bleed, it could become infected.

Anytime we eat, our stomach compresses multiple times to digest. Each time it compresses, it is pulling at the staple line that is currently holding it together. Except this is INSIDE OF YOU so if those stitches break, whatever is in your stomach will leak into your abdomen, you will go septic and you could die.

So please stop eating. This is temporary. You will be able to eat again.

If you are drinking fluids like you are supposed to and working on your Protein, you shouldn't feel hungry at all. I think your "hunger" is head hunger, which we all experience.

I almost feel like this post is a joke! Who would put themselves through this traumatizing surgery and then risk their life by not following Dr's orders??? Serious medical issues can result in eating food too quickly: leak, tears, hemorrhage, etc. Is risking your life really worth a few bites of food? Why on earth did you get this surgery? You need to contact your surgeon ASAP and inform him/her on what you are doing to yourself.

@@cantstop87 You would feel pain if a stitch busted open. But please be aware that is a very real possibility and it is exactly why we have a diet progression to stick to. liquids...then pureed...then soft foods for WEEKS.

I am sure you were given a plan. Please read it and stick to it. 99% of the success of this surgery is your mental fortitude. If you can't do it on your own, then you need to contact someone with your team ASAP. I would contact them anyway and let them know how far off plan you have strayed as they will likely want to check you out ASAP.

Yes I know. I just idk. It's been a rough road and im only a week out. I feel like if I have something to curb my appetite that it would help me not eat but what I'm supposed to

Thats i meantioned keeping busy as best,as u can. How about a good book, scrapbooking, how about a lot of " before pics"? If you were thinking diet meds, thats not the answer. You've got this!!! You gotta make this change and change your thinking or this, will not be successful. I would find a support group in your area,ASAP and,a therapist. I think that would help tremendously

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
