coconutlemongrass 1 Posted December 21, 2016 I had a bypass on 11/29 and I've been shocked at how slowly my recovery is going, compared to the other major abdominal surgeries I've had in the past. I am still having a lot of soreness, and trying to transition to more solid foods has been a nightmare. Is anyone else still having pain, especially with eating/ drinking? catwoman7 11,220 Posted December 21, 2016 you might want to let your surgeon's office know just in case something is going on. It may be that your system just isn't ready to progress yet, or there could be something like a stricture. I'd just let them know and see what they say. I was in the hospital for 9 days with complications and I'm so scared to go back. The pain isn't unbearable, I just didn't realize I'd be so sore for so long! However I did have a feeding tube placed during surgery and removed two weeks later which hurt a lot. I think youre right that my body just isn't ready for as many solids right now. I wasn't given a diet plan and didn't have any diet education (I had bypass for bile reflux not weight loss) and that's been a big struggle.
