celticNgel 144 Posted September 10, 2017 BECAUSE the last one was such a bust, I guess I worry about Murphy's Law repeating himself. i hate failure. My doc is pretty confident because when i had my stapling it was new and not well done. He stated that he is not surprised that I failed last time because it was not a proven message at the time. He says this is no problem, together we've got this. I really like him and grad onto that faith! 1 DaniO reacted to this
dturner153 15 Posted September 17, 2017 I am to have a sleeve to Bypass revision done on the 23rd due to reflux. Has anyone gone through that. I can't seem to find anything on the site. I am just wondering weight wise how much more anyone has lost. Me too, I'm in the same boat as you! But I went from band to sleeve, it didn't work, so having bypass due to reflux.. 9/25/
goofyrn 1 Posted September 17, 2017 Hello. I had my rny 2003 and due to my 3rd back surgery and not being able to do much of anything I gained my weight back. I feel so disgusted with myself. I felt so good and now so awful and it won't come off. My doc said she won't do a revision as the pouch is fine even though it's at 5-7cm. I do have a little tail that she's going to cut off during my hernia surgery but that's it. I'm tempted to go to someone else for possible revision.
goofyrn 1 Posted September 17, 2017 I also suffer from severe reflux. Had all these tests done and three EGD TYPES and blood work. So frustrating.
Nancy MBGC 90 Posted September 17, 2017 I'm 9 days post op from vsg to bypass. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal AppI didn't know that you could revision from sleeve to bypass! Not sure how that works. Do they charge the same as a regular bypass? I'm confused because the stomach has been removed and you just have the pouch. Sorry for the ignorance. dturner153 15 Posted September 18, 2017 |Not really sure, my insurance is paying the hospital part of this, then I'll pay the doctor part! But I have acid reflux real bad that I just found out is very common with the sleeve... I didn't lose any weight with the sleeve either. I had the band on 2010 and lost 80 pounds, down to 125, now I'm back up to 180....very unhappy!!!
SleeveDreamer 383 Posted September 19, 2017 I was sleeved about 5 1/2 years ago but continued with terrible reflux. I could not stand it anymore and too much esophagus damage, so my surgeon said an RNY would cure it. Had bypass in June, took Protonix for about 6 weeks then stopped. NO more acidat all! And the rcovery for RNY is no different than the sleeve IMO. No regrets! 1 dturner153 reacted to this
bigfatmama 1 Posted October 1, 2017 Me too, I'm in the same boat as you! But I went from band to sleeve, it didn't work, so having bypass due to reflux.. 9/25/17 Hi. I had the band Apprx 10 years ago, it was great for me, kept off about 70lbs for many years and then it broke[emoji20]. I had emergency surgery to remove the band and opted for the sleeve. Unfortunately, the sleeve never worked for me. I gained a lot of weight and finally bit the bullet and had gastric bypass surgery on 9/26/17. So far, so good!!! Still have reflux but not as bad as before... I am feeling very little pain and am actually a bit hungry. I hoping that once I graduate to chunkier foods the food will satisfy me and I will no longer feel hungry-fingers crossed!!!
bigfatmama 1 Posted October 1, 2017 I am so sorry, I am new at this whole forum thing and thought you both had revision surgeries....hang in there!!!

Yes, they turn the sleeve into a pouch and remove the pyloric valve and do the bypass. revisions are usually pricier than virgin surgeries because of the degree of complexity. Most revisions from sleeves to bypass though are done for medical reasons most common being severe GERD.
