Cannot eat certain foods after 2 years!?

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve over 2 years ago. I started at 287 and weighed in at 268 the day of surgery. Lost 70lbs within 4 months and sadly gained back 45lbs!! In the last yearSmh....I have had a huge issue as far as dieting. Since my sleeve I cannot eat alot of foods. Mainly the ones I need the most. I can't have any fruit (I was already allergic pre-op but still was always able to eat them just got allergic reaction), I cant eat onions, peppers, tomatoes, lettuce , corn (which i LOVE) and many other vegetables and foods I loved pre-op. All those things will ruin my meal at any given time. I have tried eating slowly i have retried so many times to keep them down I just can't!! Even thinking about eating any of those things just seriously makes me sick. I cannot include any of those in my meal or else it will come right back up. I tried training my body and will hold the nausea in but I eventually within minutes after eating always throw up. I also vomit randomly after eating sometimes I just dont know what went wrong. I know about 15 other close friends who have done the surgery and none have this problem. It is soo frustrating to know i went through prepping myself for months before surgery and prepapring for a new healthy lifestyle, healing and taking time out to tend to all my surgery needs both pre and post op and now its all for nothing. I want to know if anyone else experiences this as well??? Any suggestions???

P.S. I went back for follow up appointments and was told it may be the acidic foods but really?? All of them?? I dont know what else to do.

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. Have you seen a dietician or nutritionist? Perhaps there is some sort of probiotic you can take that would help? They might have some strategy that can help you.

My doctor told me up front that hard to digest veggies would be a no go. My plan actually says I should avoid raw veggies for at least 6 months so I don't think what you are dealing with is uncommon.

What stick out to me in your post is why are you so insistent on eating those foods if you know they make you sick? There are hundreds of other options out there, try them.

What foods can you eat? Do you track and measure your food? There are still many healthy foods left.

Dairy: Cottage cheese and Greek yogurt; milk and low fat cheeses.

Soft meats- crockpot chicken, seafood, scrambled eggs, etc.

Veggies: Have you puréed veggies into Soups? Are green juices tolerable? What veggies can you eat and how do you prepare them?

Do you eat grains, Pasta, carbs? What kinds and how much?

Everything you listed not being able to eat is not essential. You didn't say anything about Proteins at all.

I am guessing you eat a lot of carbs?

Also if you take a PPI and an antacid, you should probably be able to eat those foods.

Corn however is a starch/grain not a vegetable so I would avoid it or eat it in moderation

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
