GinaAnn 0 Posted December 20, 2016 I need some help with figuring something out. I want sleeve surgery and will cash pay. However I also need my right ovary removed due to reoccurring cysts. If my insurance covers that my deductible is $5500. How can I get my sleeve done at same time? Is that even possible since a gyno does ovary removal? ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted December 20, 2016 @@GinaAnn It would probably be very difficult to coordinate those two surgeries. You can generally get more than one thing done during one procedure if they're relatively co-located and can be done by the same surgical team, ie I had the VSG and an umbilical hernia repaired all at one. Many people have their gallbladder removed and hiatal hernias fixed as well during WLS. Having an ovary removed, as you said, requires a different surgical team and would require a separate prep and incisions as well, as it couldn't be done from the VSG site. GinaAnn 0 Posted December 20, 2016 Rats. He said it would be a simple procedure do everything thru belly button so I had hoped to be able to work WLS in with it Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted December 20, 2016 Well, maybe it'll work out. I've never seen them done concurrently, but I guess it's possible. The only way to know for sure is to talk to your WLS and your OB/GYN both.
