If you were given a binder or purchased one, how long did you wear it after sleeve surgery?

I wore mine for about 5 mins...hated it. I'm in the minority, though :)

I had my surgery on 12/9 and I'm still wearing my binder. I put it on as I was getting discharged from the hospital and it was the most awesome feeling in the world. It provides support for all the jiggly, sensitive flesh and makes you feel protected.

Incidentally, I also have a hematoma on my stomach that resulted from the surgery, and wearing a binder is the only way I could function without narcotic painkillers. The pain is too much if I take it off, so I foresee wearing it at least for a few more weeks.

For how expensive they are (like $15), I would absolutely buy one. If you don't end up needing it, so be it. If you do, however... you'll be glad you had it.

It really helps me when I'm out going to the store or running errands. I would recommend getting one!

Where did you find one for $15? I'd like to have another to wear while washing mine.

I woke up from surgery with it on, and I have only taken it off to bathe since then. I'm on day 5, but I plan to wear it all least until my 2 week follow up appt.

For those that are or were wearing one, where are your incisions? Mine were on my chest and upper belly and I can't see where one would have helped me. I'm just wondering if the incision location makes the difference.

My binder goes from just under my boobs to above my belly button.

I have them above my belly button to below my chest. My binder covers the entire surface.

Here's the one I'm wearing, for those interested:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009GPZF96/

Current price is about $15, give or take a few cents.

It works pretty well for me. I have three incisions, one above my belly button and two more on my stomach. It covers from under my breasts to my hips, and I'm 5' 6" so not exactly short. Note that my waist was about 42" when I bought this one and it fit just barely, so make sure to order a bigger size if you're bigger than that.

My doctor told me the binder is not so much for the incision but to restrict movement in your midsection through the healing process. I was lying down and turned to my.left side and I swear it felt like I tore something. My doctor told me that he does have part my stomach sewn into the abdominal wall so being that I didn't have the binder it aggravated the surgery site. Hope this helps.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
