I am so blessed to have my husband and my few friends support me through this i know so many aren't that lucky. I can't wait to start my healthy life again physically and mentally.

It will definitely be worth it! What are you dealing with as far as being miserable? The only thing I dealt with was slight headaches. I wasn't as hungry as I expected to be. Remember to drink a lot of Fluid. It helps with the hunger. :)

Thanks for posting, it's such a support to hear that I'm not alone. In my tough times it's helpful to get support from reading everyone's struggles and their perseverance to overcome. You can do it!

I am on day 13 of the liquid diet. I can't tell you it gets easy, but I can tell you it gets easier. Make sure you get lots of Protein. Drink lots of Water. And find ways to stay busy! Just remember what it's all for!

I too am also on my pre-op I'm 2 days away from surgery and I feel much better than I did when I first started. I've lost 8lbs and I couldn't be happier that it's finally here. I'm glad to have found this website to read about other people's experiences. It's good to share with people who have gone through or are sharing in what your going through.

You're allowed to take liquid Tylenol. That's what I took, and it helped. :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
