Primarily I'm wondering what and when you eat and drink.

I'm almost a year pre-op but I figure if I can get my habits a little closer to post-op habits now it won't be as hard to transition.

I know I need to eat much slower and probably smaller portions. I believe there's also a rule against drink and eating at the same time.

Would anyone be willing to share a typical day of eating and life.

I'd also be happy to receive links to articles with this informations. A guide to living post op. I'll also google this info but I think you guys are the best resource.

I'm also curious how often you exercise and what kinds of exercise you do.

Thank you so much.

I am 10 years out and working on losing a 20 lb regain after my sister died this year ( had not regained for 9 years) so my program is a little strict right now. no sugar ( it is the hardest thing for me to eat without dumping) and very low carbs.

Breakfast one egg omelet with left over veggies or one egg with cheese and one veggie Patty I am very active so if traveling or having meeting I will take along hard boiled egg and one string cheese.< /p>

lunch Protein shake when not doing the bot program I would have chicken salad or tuna salad or veggie Soup for this meal

dinner 3 oz meat (usually chicken thigh or fish) one half cup veggies by the time I get in the Protein I am full. I love potatoes and allow myself two fingerlings or a very small sweet potato twice per week.

snack Protein Shake I don't do Protein Bars because they are super sweet and I thin k candy bars and don't want to get started with that again lol

if hungry at other times I will have sugar free popsicles or Jello in between

don't drink 30 min before a meal during a meal or 30 min after so the pouch stays full and food is processed without being washed thro before getting the nutrients you need drink only Water or Decaf tea and coffee can have crystal light but NO carbonated beverages including diet cokes etc. the am I hungry web site will tell you about mindful eating. no tv or books or computer eating. chew chew chew small bites and put down fork between each bite. it was hard for me to learn to empty my mouth fully and not put in another bite before I was finished with the first one. I loved to shovel food.< /p>

exercise is walking 10000 steps per day and strength exercises three times per week with weights

also try to do some stretches and balance work a couple times per week but I am not as good at remembering these ugh

artic;es/ I go to Bariatric Eating.com it is trying to sell you products which I don't buy but have lots of recipes and a closed Facebook page that is very helpful ( leaders scold so if sensitive don't go here) also several others on facebook just search bariatric.

I eat everything I did before surgery, but in small portions. If I feel I am overdoing it, I decrease my frequency. I went on a cruise and my fat butt was eating 6-8 times a day at the floating buffet, we ar talking really naughty things like cheesecake, I started gaining till I put it back down to 4x a day. I preach from the book of moderation.

I also preach from the book of moderation. Maybe it's because I was never successful at strict dieting. My problem before WLS was that I never felt full. That's definitely not an issue now!

My eating plan given to me by my NUT (who is associated with a Bariatric Center of Excellence) has me eating 5 times a day - every 3 to 4 hours without snacking in between. Four meals consist of Protein (always first), a multigrain or fruit serving (which for right now is a couple of crackers or grapes) and one meal is a Protein shake. When I get up to 3 oz of Protein at each meal, I will stop the shakes because I just really don't care for them.

Interestingly enough, my sister, who did not have surgery is pretty much on the same plan. Her Dr. told her 5 meals a day - protein the size of the palm of your hand - 300 calories max each meal. She has lost over 25 pounds since September. Slow yes, but it's working for her (she's in her late sixties).

I also follow the 30-30-30 drinking rule - stop drinking 30 mins prior to eating, don't drink while eating or 30 minutes after.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
