Recommended Posts

for those of you with around that much to lose, how much did you lose before your first fill. i have found lots of posts about how much people have lost to begin with. i was just wanting to narrow it done to people with about the same as me. i have been told that the more you have to lose, the faster your loss is to begin with. thanks!

Hi I'm having surgery october 17th. I have about 60lbs to lose. My sister had it done about 1 year in the half ago. Her loss was around 60lbs and she lost her weight to me pretty fast like a lot of other people here on the post. Recently she found herself gaining up to 170llbs but decided she did not want to be that heavy after all, so she had a refill done..and I'd say in about 2 weeks she was from 170 to 153lbs. So good luck and I hope that helped.

I'm 18 days post-op, and I'm down 17 lbs in 5 weeks, 9 lbs since surgery. It doesn't seem like much compared to those who are on the liquid diets for weeks and weeks. My Doctor requires a sensible low-fat/low-carb diet for 2 weeks before surgery, and liquids for only 1 week after surgery, then on to mushies.

I'm getting my first fill at 21 days post-op. I'm hoping it's a small one because I'm happy with the amount I'm eating and with my weight loss thus far. I'm NEVER hungry, and I'm only managing to eat about 1,000 calories a day.

I have more like 80 lb to lose. I have lost about 7.5 since my surgery date of 08/31. I lost a few more on the preop diet.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
