2 different things! One makes me happy, the other not!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved in Mexico by Dr. Illan on Nov. 7 which was the best doctor and staff. But yesterday, I looked down and saw my feet for the first time over my stomach in along time. So happy!!!! Not so happy part, I'm freezing it's cold in Kentucky, I have always been able to wear big sweatshirt outside and no jacket and get by. Now, when I got outside, I dress for blizzard and in the house, I have a big fuzzy blanket all the time. It's not even snowing yet and I've not lost that much weight. I'll have to drag a heater around with me soon! My house is warm to, my kids run around in shorts!! I love the weight loss but freezing, I hate!!

haha yep get used to being cold - you don't have as much insulation and with the limited fuel (calories), your body focuses on your core temp and you'll notice your hands and feet stay cold. I had surgery in June and in late july went on a garden tour with a friend with actual temps over 100 - she was sweating and miserable and I was fine, felt warm but not unbearably hot and barely broke a sweat (which actually made me a bit nervous that I wasn't sweating!). I'll take have to put a few extra layers on clothes on the in the winter if it means I'm not sweaty and gross just stepping outside in summer!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
