No bowel after surgery

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone Im new on here so I hope im posting correctly. Has anyone else had this problem? I am 6 days after GB and I still haven't had a bowel. Granted I'm still on liquid diet and the shake with cream of wheat due to not being able to take in much because my pouch is senitive. I also have been drinking tea to make me go but no luck yet. Should I be concerned by now? The doc already knows he didn't seem concerned.

Totally normal. I didn't have one for almost 2 weeks. You aren't really eating anything so nothing to come out I suppose . Im 11 weeks out now and still dont have one but maybe every 2 days.

@@bbudee Yes, it totally normal. If your bariatric team doesn't include a nutritionist to oversee your diet post-surgery, ask your doctors for a recommendation.

I am two weeks post surgery and have been following sample menus tailored to me by my nutritionist, based on my doctor's feedback.

If you feel nausea or light-headed talk to your team — they may need to adjust your meal plans. Good luck, it sounds like you are doing a great recovery!

Yes thank you I actually am doing very good can't lie some pain but nothing I can't live with. I do have a nutritionist but I only see her a month after surgery and every 3 months after that. They don't make menus but I'm sure if I email them they'll help me out. Thank you for your feedback very helpful!

I would drink some Smooth Move tea and consider taking a stool softener, especially if you are not meeting your Fluid goals (mine was 48 oz the first couple of weeks). It's no fun when things get impacted due to lack of moisture
