Serious life question about hiccups.

Recommended Posts

Literally every time I eat I get the hiccups after. I chew slowly and do my best to take my time yet no matter what eating brings out a bout of hiccups. Not really concerning but annoying, any one else experience this or have any idea what causes this after surgery?

I'm 3 months out and i still get them occasionally, i spoke to my nurse about it and she said it was nothing to worry about and just a bit of trapped wind under my diaphram

For me it's always when I eat/drink too fast or too much. I don't know physically why it happens after surgery, but I know it has to do with the phrenic nerve. So I suspect that it's a sensitivity thing, and that you eventually get over it. But that's an educated guess. :)

@@theantichick I tend to get them regardless of how quickly or slowly I eat I've noticed. No doubt I have my moments when I could probably slow down but it even happens after taking Vitamins for example. Maybe hacking out my innards just put everything off it's a-game for the time being I appreciate the educated guess!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
