Ronnie109 5 Posted December 19, 2016 Good evening I just started my process with trying to get the sleeve gastrecromy. I'm 26 and weigh 280. I have Cigna and I just started a weightloss program with a hosptial. Has anyone been denied and has Cigna? Also I just switched my pcp doctor because I moved, when it comes time to have the letter of recommendation for surgery will that be an issue with the insurance? Being that I'm a new patient and there's only but so much information she has about me? Thanks in advance
Who'sThere 331 Posted December 19, 2016 Surely he or she could call you previous physician or get your records sent. Best of luck! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App

I have Cigna and had no problems but it's really up to what the employer approved in their policies. I found my surgeon first and then asked what primary care drs he worked with. Do you have any comorbidities? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Ronnie109 5 Posted December 19, 2016 Thanks for responding, I only have high blood pressure. I called my insurance and they told me what hospital I had to go to. I just found my primary doctor and don't want to switch being that I'm looking to get surgery in February.

Yes all policies are different according to the employer so I would contact the insurance first to ask them if they cover the insurance and if so what their requirements are. kell911 62 Posted December 19, 2016 You should go ahead and get a release of information from your new Dr.s office and have them request you records. Start that now.
