The emotional roller coaster

Recommended Posts

Is not stopping and i want to get off already! I always read that this happens with this surgery or from the removal of some pills. I warned my family about it but i guess i was not prepared enough. I get weepy at the slightest things even on the commercials. I can handle weepy but the agitation part makes me feel bad i worked so hard not to become my father and now i turn into him at the drop of a hat. Aaargh! So along with loosing the poundage the feels can get list too.

I'm sorry. I haven't had my revision surgery yet, but I have been warned by my nurse practitioner. I told my family to be prepared and I'm trying to work on some emotional things now before my surgery with a therapist. Really sorry. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I'm fully aware of this phenomenon as well. My awareness is what is keeping one of my employees alive at this point in time...

It is common to experience emotional problems after surgery. Some of this is due to the fact that fat cells contain chemicals and hormones that are dumped into your system as they dissolve away. This can flood your system with hormones and you can experience a hormonal dump. These hormones are flushed through your system, your kidney and eventually expelled in your urine. It take fluids to make this process work properly. Therefore remember to meet your daily Fluid requirements.

If you aren't exercising, start. If you are getting some exercise in, do more if you can. Getting those endorphins going with exercise can help combat the other rush of hormones, and help stabilize mood.

Walking helps keep my emotions in perspective. I walk my dog everyday, snow or no snow:-) I highly suggest it, see if that helps boost some of your natural endorphins. Maybe you will feel a little better, I wish you the best.

I'm sitting in the waiting room of my local occupational health. I'm short 2 employees of my 5 man (Including me) crew. I'm waiting here because I have reasonable suspension of the employee mentioned above being under the influence of alcohol. I'm strongly believing that I will be a 2 man crew shortly...

So yes Virginia there really is a Santa Claus and unfortunately he blew a .07. Now I'm looking for 3 employees... Wonderful, just freaking wonderful. It would be nice if my other employee was at least fully trained but nope, he has been with me just over a month. Also December through April are our busiest months.

I already take zoloft for depression, so I will resume that ASAP after surgery. And exercise!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
