Anyone have surgery rescheduled due to liver?

Recommended Posts

Did anyone have to have their surgery rescheduled due to their liver being too fatty? Or did you have to have the open surgery? I'm so paranoid about this. I am doing the pre-op diet my surgeon prescribes but I keep thinking "What if it's not enough? I should have started earlier" (although I started 2 weeks prior as they told me to). I guess I'm just panicking a bit. Everyone talks like it's such a big deal but has it really ever happened to anyone? Thanks.

I have yet to meet or talk to someone on line that it's actually happened to... but I've heard many people who say their doctors have had patients it happened to.. I think it's "real", but don't stress about it too bad, as long as you're following your doctor's orders you should be okay.. goodluck with everything!

I have never heard of this before...some surgeons don't even require a pre-op liquid diet....don't worry..you will be fine..just stick to your pre-op diet and your liver will shrink and the surgery will go great...good luck...let us know how you are doing...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
