PRE OP DIET MAKING ME DIZZY!

Recommended Posts

I've been on the pre op diet for 3 days and today I felt as if I was going to faint!! I've had no sugar no carbs and no caffeine. It's getting kind of hard especially with sweets and good food(tamales) around the house. Anyone else going through the PRE OP??

I had to do it for 7 days. I didn't feel dizzy, but I did get a headache (it wasn't severe). Did your doctor tell you to avoid sugar completely? Your blood sugar might be low. Also, try your best to stay away from good food. Don't let yourself be around people who eat the good stuff. That's when it gets hard.

Yes, just starting, hang in there and as much as possible get the temptations out of the house. For me work is worse because I can't control how many goodies are constantly being put on my desk or plates of them everywhere. I told my coworkers I am on a special diet but it is funny how that just makes them worse, they say things like, one little cookie/candy/treat won't hurt, it's the holidays. This will be a challenging holiday season but worth it in the end

Everyday is a challenge for me at work as well. It takes everything I have to resist especially the sweets. But at the end of the day I feel proud I had the strength in me to resist. And yes it will be well worth it in the end

Ok, now this annoys me. How rude of them to pressure/tempt you. Some people lack so much tact.

My Dr. Gave me a diet plan and told me avoid carbs, caffeine and sugars. But I think I will have a fruit once a day to help me out. It is hard especially when the whole house smells delicious.lol... but I have plenty of veggies to snack on to help me out.

It's funny to me how different pre-op diets are, I am only allowed one small meal of Protein and veggies a day, and other then that 2-3 Protein shakes. I might do my meal at lunch since it seems to be harder during the day.

HIraeth-I agree it is annoying. My husband is diabetic and even telling his coworkers that and they pressure him to eat sweets. He actually got mad at one coworker yesterday because she was pestering him so bad. I have learned to accept the treat and casually dump it in the trash, leaving a crumb or two on the plate/napkin on my desk and then people seem to be more ok with you passing on things because you already indulged. I work in an open office with A LOT of people and it is NON-STOP this time of year. If I wasn't using my sick/vacation for my surgery in two weeks I would have requested the time off

When you say "whole house smells delicious" do you mean that you are smelling the food your family members are eating? Too bad they can't refrain from eating around you. I'm sure fruit won't be bad to eat. My doctor didn't give me that kind of diet plan. He just said to drink liquids for the first 6 days, and Clear Liquids on the 7th day. Your doctor must be trying to ween you off of sugar, carbs, and caffeine (which is a good idea). You'll do great! :D

Seriously? I can't believe his coworkers are pressuring him to do that, especially since he's a diabetic. That's so ridiculous. I'd have to put my foot down and tell them to stop because you're making a life change, and that it's rude of them to constantly insist. I'm sorry you and your husband have to deal with that. :/

i did it for 2 weeks. hardest thing i ever did. didnt even cheat although i was convinced I would. showed me how much i wanted surgery and that i was willing to do anything to get it. i felt dizzy day 1-3 but i promise it gets easier after day 4. Drink loads of Water stay hydrated. after day 4 your so into it. try and stay focused because if you can't do the pre op diet then you will find it even harder after surgery.

Yes I made myself some lemonade with Splenda and it's really helping me with my cravings and I feel better today on day 4. I really want this and that's what keeps me focused on the diet.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
