Girl the struggle is real! All my liquids have to be ice cold. I can't drink the Protein shakes. ???? YUCK ????. THANK goodness I'm on soft foods. I too have to force myself to eat. After a tablespoon or 1 1/2 tablespoons I'm stuffed.

I was doing pretty good until day 9. My stomach started to hurt and my heart was pounding out of my chest. Last night I went to the hospital for dehydration. I had been drinking as much as I could handle, but last night I started to throw up Water and anything. I didn't have a leak and everything is fine. The doctor said my stomach is starting to scar and that could be causing some stomach discomfort. He said to take my anti nausea meds and drink as much as I could. Today I didn't get any food in hardly at all. Just a lot of liquid. I'm hoping tomorrow is better. Feeling so drained! Can barely do anything for longer than 15 minutes.

I had my surgery 12/12 and I'm not really hungry. When I am, I eat a little like two half spoons and I'm full. I need to get more fluids in.

If you can't eat much I'd just do Protein and liquid. I had surgery Monday and tried watered down cream of wheat yesterday morning. Four small bites over twenty minutes and I felt like I had swallowed a ball. Then last night I had protein pudding and was able to have a quarter cup. The difference was the time of day and the texture difference. I feel I get a little better every day so I'm not too worried. I start my day with protein 2o grape drink because it isn't as thick and easier to get down.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
