Now I am paranoid...

:omg: I am a little worried. I was looking at the before and after picture forum. I noticed a lot of people in their signatures saying they had band removed and rebanneded for things like slippage and erosion. There was a lot of people! Is it that common? I thought you had a good chance of not needing all that if you ate the correct things and make sure to eat the prescribed diet while you heal.

And I saw a discussion on hair loss! I am talking millions of people talking about major extreme hairloss- and they all were getting their Protein, taking Vitamins out the ying yang, special shampoos and conditioners, herbs, etc. A lot of them said nothing helped- they just had to wait it out and it could take up to 11 months. That really freaked me out siince my hair has already thinned over the last few years and now I know it was due to insulin resistance.

And what is Biotin? Several people said they are taking that to help with hairloss. I also heard someone say Evening Primrose Oil helps too.

LOL......I did the same thing!

I'd tell you to relax but I know its easier said then done. I have a lot of hair but the idea of losing it doesn't really appeal.

Best Advice. Keep in mind a lot of people post their horror stories and for the million post you read I'm sure there are 2 MILLION who didn't have Hair loss.

About the slippage....its something we have to accept may happen. It you follow your instructions to the letter you will be fine. Just stay on your liquids and soft foods as prescribed to allow your stomach to heal and get into a good position.

It will be all good!!!!

I have lost a lot of hair, and my hair is past my waist, so that really sucks. But I keep reminding myself of one VERY GOOD point that WasaBubbleButt made in one of her posts about hair loss:

I can buy a wig and cover up baldness, I can't cover up fat.

I too have very long hair. I'm hoping I won't lose it but if I do, then so be it. It's hair. I need to lose the fat more than I need to keep the hair. Besides, if you've read those threads about hairloss, you also read the hair will usually grow back. So not to worry.

I was worried about that too, but I've just decided if it happens it happens, and like someone else said, I can cover baldness with a wig, I can't cover up fat.

I have very thin, baby fine hair to begin with, so I'm really praying I don't lose mine, but if I do maybe I'll just shave my head and start over!!!

<p>I believe I read that Hair loss will be minimized if losing weight is slow and gradual and the diet is rich with Protein. Years ago I was on Optifast and lost 60 lbs in 4 months, and my hair thinned. It grew back, although not as fast as the pounds grew back. Anyway, I had a full head of hair in no time, and this time if I go bald I'll just wear wigs like all the hollywood stars: Halle berry, Britney Spears, haha. No I'm kidding seriously. OK I do want to look like Halle though.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
