laceemouse 631 Posted December 16, 2016 I didn't even weigh at home the first 2 weeks, I only weighed at my week 1 and week 2 visits with my surgeon. You have a lot of extra Fluid in your system now. And a lot of swelling. It's normal.
linah 92 Posted December 16, 2016 Water retention is very normal at this stage, don't weigh yourself for the first 2 weeks and then only once a week or less if you can control it, otherwise it will take over your life. Take body measurements once a month for comparison. Sometimes even if the number on the scale doesn't change your measurements will ???? Malin 470 Posted December 16, 2016 Me too SunsetSue, I was sleeved on 12/13. scale had me +4 pounds from the morning of surgery. I was just curious, I didn't let it bother me as I feel overinflated like the Goodyear blimp. I feel like a deflating balloon today ..all the GAS! (Hope that's not too much TMI) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Miss Impala 64 Posted December 16, 2016 I second the other postees. Also to be able to do the surgery, they have to pump your abdomen full of air to be able to see. That is why they have you get up and walk so much, to get your circulation going to process the Fluid and gas out of your system. I ate a lot of ice chips and helped with the knawing feeling. It did get better when I started the thicker fluids. Protein Water, Protein Soup, protein Jello. 11/11/16: HW 380 11/28/16: Duodenal Switch Surgery 11/28/16: SW 374 lbs 12/14/16: CW 350 lbs
lodagoda 4 Posted December 16, 2016 I was also 2.5kg heavier from my surgical weight. About 5pounds gain After discharge but they were pumping Fluid in me. Now I almost lost them all after more than 24hrs at home. Pain isn't an issue now but I'm so tired and sleepy all the time and finding difficulty just getting enough Protein as my doctor recommend. Need to squeeze in more Protein.< /p> Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I've never wanted to pass "gas" as bad as I do now. I'm still in pain when I get up I have to do it so slowly Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

texasmomto3 0 Posted December 31, 2016 I just joined the forum and had the gastric sleeve done on 12/28. I also have had nothing to eat except Water and Protein shakes since surgery. I am really tired but have been walking a lot. I also stepped on the scale this morning and have gained 3 pounds. It was a terrible feeling since I haven't had anything but liquids since Tuesday (4 days ago). How is that possible wi Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
texasmomto3 0 Posted December 31, 2016 By the way, I'm 55 and have diabetes. How have other older women with diabetes done after the surgery? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
