krr343 38 Posted December 16, 2016 I don't think you need to run to the psych ward yet! You gave into temptation which is what got most of us here in the first place. Pick up and start again. Ask yourself what caused you to make the bad choice. I found that if I waited too long to have a Protein Shake the cravings were worse. Always make sure you have good options accessible and get back on it! See you on the other side!
Leslie9595 10 Posted December 16, 2016 So I cheated today really bad.. I had Half of a Jimmy Johns sandwich.. Now my tummy hurts I feel so sick and I'm scared I just messed up.. Can this be undone or do I need to reschedule? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I would say call and ask your doctor. They would know best. Are you on the Optifast for pre surgery? Leslie9595 Sorry I didnt see that you stated that your in pre surgery. But I went to Optifast nutrition class this past Monday and the nutritionist said that the main reason for the optifast is to shrink your liver, since your liver sits on top of your stomach, and by skrinking the liver it will be less of a chance of the liver being nicked during surgery. Now with that being said I would still consult with the doc. We are all humans here and we are goin to fall and make mistakes but it how you get up and how you learn and grow from that mistake is what really matters. You have takin the steps to reclaim your life, be proud and let the haters hate. Leslie9595

Djmohr 6,965 Posted December 16, 2016 @@MrzGainey88 I would just get back on track immediately. I was glad to hear it was pre-op vs. post op. I was also glad to hear how upset you are about it but at this point, getting back on track is the most critical thing. it sounds like you have lost a lot of weight already so you can get back on track and you will be well on your way. Best of luck to you!
Boofy71 11 Posted December 16, 2016 I also did not stick 100% to the pre-op diet - I made a few off choices, I am 1 week post op & my surgery went extremely well - don't beat yourself up - don't believe you don't want this, I am from the UK & from what I can gather your pre-op diets are far more viscous - I ate an 800 - 1000 cal diet right up until day of surgery - even had a piece of toast day of - as guided by my surgeon - keep going & just write that off as a bad decision lunch! Mindy78 372 Posted December 16, 2016 I think everyone has given in to temptation and made a bad choice. The goal is to get back on track and move forward. You will do great in this journey I think simply because you realize how you did a bad thing, instead of trying to justify it like other's I've seen on here do. Forgive yourself but remember how sick you felt. That was enough to make me not want to try it again. Sent from my 5054N using the BariatricPal App
TMHopkins 108 Posted December 16, 2016 I was on pre op diet for 14 days and on day 7 I ate a cheese burger with fries... shouldn't have but I stayed on my pre op diet for the last week and didn't cheat at all and my surgery went perfectly. My surgeon said my liver looked great, just make sure you stick to the diet from here on out and you'll be fine Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Shellie79 0 Posted December 16, 2016 My nut said 1 screw up undoes everything you just did. I had a bmi of 55 and I had a 11 day preop. Was suppose to be a 14 day but the doc didn't have any other close open surgery days. She said my liver was big but still managed. I'd talk to your surgeon. You really wouldn't want her to open u up and immediately close u back up without surgery. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
GBLady41 393 Posted December 19, 2016 From a safety point, there is no way you should be eating this kind of food and and in this amount so soon after your surgery. Call your surgeon and speak with his or her team. This is on you. I am seriously concerned that if you continue to eat like this, you will either injure yourself or eat around your surgery. Get some help. I haven't had my surgery, I stated that in my post.. Actually you didn't state that in your post. It says Day 6 Cheat. Sent from my 5054N using the BariatricPal App I just want to say that although making mistakes or bad choices, but there are people who did not make mistakes on their pre-op diet. That's not to say that anyone is better than anyone else. I'm just stating facts. That being said, you can do this!!! Get back on your program in order to help your surgeon have the easiest time with your surgery. Take it moment by moment. Make a vision board or journal your meals. What helped me keep on my pre-op diet is that I wanted the best outcome possible. And I wanted to prove to myself that I can do it. Do what you need to do to complete the rest of your pre-op diet by making the right choices. Because it does matter.
