The Civil War inside me...

Recommended Posts

Newbie/Lurker who was banded in Raleigh NC on Sep 12. Things have been going fairly well on the clear liquid post-op diet, but on Sep 14th, a Civil War was declared inside my body between the long-time Republic of Estomago and the newly-formed Territory of North Bandonia.

What the hell is going on? I feel like I have swallowed a Nintendo...there are noises that I have never heard emanating from North, South, East, and West.

I'm familiar with hunger noises, and gas-related sounds, but am having trouble figuring out the rest.

I don't really understand how the CO2 that they pump you up with (in the body cavity) 'works its way out'? Does it find an underground tunnel and supply the troops with a deadly supply? Is that why we walk, to keep splitting the gas bubbles into tinier and tinier bubbles until they're so small they disappear?

If anyone can shed some light on what is going on, and how much longer until a truce may be called?

Thanks!

Darn. I had an entire message written and it' sgone! I had to post, your message made me crack up!

Can't say anything about the noises, I'm not banded...but trust me the air they pumped into you will work itself out. I had gallbladder surgery and they pumped me full of air too. I have no idea how it does it, but it does eventually make it's way out - I was gassy for a few days !

I have the same question... what they heck are all those noises!!

Now I know FOR SURE that today my stomach was growling. Some on here say no, that is just some other noise. But I know it was....undeniably stomach growling bc I was hungry! Already!!

Hi ! I was banded on 9/6...had my one week post-op, asked about the noises...got the "that's normal" routine and that was that! I will say that the noises and moving is settling down and not near as noticable. Being just a few days ahead of you I would venture to say that you will experience that too. I am feeling really - really good, how bout you?

Things are a bit better today, but the Nintendo noises keep getting more bizarre. I get to move to Full liquids tomorrow (pudding at Midnight! Woo hoo!). Still lots of bloating...hope tomorrow will be better...!

Forget it. You can plan on World War III lasting about a week or two (maybe more for some). I could get the attention of my family in the back of the house with my rumblings! It was hysterical!

You all are so funny!

My stomach has resently started talking a lot. It has all along but lately it is louder than normal. I just laugh.

Since you are all new with the band, look out for the hiccups! For me they are a warning that I'm eating to fast and I'd better slow down or else.

Glad your all feeling well. Keep walking!!

Hi folks. I never had the noises, but my Dr. puts people onto solid food really quickly, so that might be the difference. The CO2 eventually just absorbs into your tissue and dissipates. In the meantime if it hurts, don't hesitate to use whatever pain killers your Dr. recommends. No need to suffer for the cause. I found a heating pad helped too, but GaxX didn't and walking was of marginal help. Painkillers for me!

The gas leaves the abdominal cavity by a process called diffusion. The co2 simply moves from areas of high concentration to low concentration, eventually working it way out. Can you tell I teach anatomy????

I could not agree more. I have been a one man band since my banding on August 31st. My only complaint is that since I am now on a living calorie intake my weight loss has slowed down to about 1.5 to 2 pounds a week. But I can't complain with 40 plus pounds in one month starting with the liquid pre-op.

Thanks for the humor, glad to know it is a universal experience.

Yes, Trystelle, I do remember hearing something about diffusion and osmosis in biology class. As a math guy, figured I wouldn't need to remember that!

I guess it has to happen at a very small level, which is why it takes so much time.

I stocked up on Gas X strips after all the recommendations here, but they are pretty useless.

Moving to Full liquids today (Best! Pudding! Ever!) has silenced the troops, but I know it's just temporary...

Actually looking forward for the weight loss to slow down just a bit...15 pounds in 1 week seems a bit extreme...

LOL...no clear winner yet...the North had the early advantage, but lately the South has been rising again.

I was born in Ohio, and raised in North Carolina, so no allegiance here...more of a pacifist anyway!

Republic of Estomago and the newly-formed Territory of North Bandonia.

If you don't write, you should. I have the ghost of Union soldier living (living?) in my house...so I guess that makes me a damned Yankee.

Hey, pudding would silence my troops, too.

See you on the battlefield. My troops move into position tomorrow.

Darr

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
