My surgeons office is submitting everything for approval today. They are trying to fast track me after three months of the supervised diet. The tests that were required were:

-Psychological

-EGD

-Pulmonary Function Test

-Cardiac Clearance (EKG)

-Bloodwork (11 vials worth)

-Nutrition (2 visits-1 group, 1 individual)

If I hadn't already had my gallbladder out 7 years ago I would have had to do an ultrasound to check that out. I already have severe sleep apnea, first tested in 2008.

The insurance coordinator said we should know something as early as tomorrow but no later than Tuesday.

Unless you met your deductible for 2016 you may want to wait to have the surgery until January 2017. A friend was approved for WLS last December and her doctor said he had a cancellation and would get her in on 12/30. Her insurance counted the surgery toward her 2015 deductible. So far everything has been out of pocket for her for 2016. Good luck and best wishes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
