Mountaln Gal 5 Posted December 15, 2016 Hi All. Love this app; it has so much useful info, encouraging people, and wonderful success stories. I am still doing research to see if a surgery is for me. I definitely need to make a life change. I am wondering how much time you all needed for recovery? Is there some time need prior to the surgery as well? I work full time and am trying to see how much time away i would need. Thanks for any and all replies. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
FarmerJulie 5 Posted December 15, 2016 I worked up to the day before, and went back to work 2 weeks after. I had no complications. I was tired that first week, but really had no issues. I have a moderately active job, some computer work along with carrying boxes and doing stairs. Sent from my XT1254 using the BariatricPal App

Treadmillwalker 486 Posted December 15, 2016 I had my surgery on a Wednesday. I went back to the office on Monday with a lifting restriction for the first four weeks. Banded 10/12/
WildGrits 101 Posted December 15, 2016 I was out a month. I could have gone back earlier but I work a 13 hour day three days straight. So I figured I should be very healed before I tried sitting in a desk chair that long. I still had drains a week out so there was no way I was getting dressed in work clothes. The time off before hand doesn't seems prudent. I can't think of any reason why some one would need to.
Redmaxx 740 Posted December 15, 2016 I worked up until the day prior to surgery and then I couldn't return to work for two weeks (because they didn't want me to drive until after my 2 week follow up). I had my surgery on Thursday and was teleworking from home on Monday. If they would have let me drive I would have been at work on Monday instead of working from home. Djmohr 6,965 Posted December 15, 2016 Honestly this surgery was an easy one for me. If you keep up on hydrating you only need a week or so. It is the diet that requires time to get used to. Those first weeks, months hydration is critical and it is super easy to get dehydrated and then sick from it. It happens all the time so if you can sip sip sip constantly at your job, I would guess you can go back within a week or two. It should not require any time off before other than to go to your required doctors appointments.
Vinasu 621 Posted December 15, 2016 (edited) Like many here, I worked the day before surgery, had it on Wednesday, worked from home on Friday, and was back in the office Monday. I was a bit tired, but completely able to function. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App Edited December 15, 2016 by Vinasu
#BirdDog 604 Posted December 15, 2016 (edited) I took two weeks off after my surgery date. Probably could have gone back a few days earlier but why push it. As for before surgery I took a week off there too, just to give me a little time to get everything prepared. With the strict diet they put me on I didn't want my coworkers to have to deal with me being grumpy. Edited December 15, 2016 by #BirdDog
