Well its my Surgery Eve and im sittng in my hotel room in San Diego wondering why i cant find much about my surgeon on Bariatric Pal. His name is Luis Cervantes my procedure is @ Hospital Guadalajara in Tijuana Mexico tomorro 12/15 @ 1pm , after blood work, ekg, etc, All of his review are on his website, which I'm not 100% confident with because I am a website owner and reviews can be manipulated! Im doing this all alone, no support team, except back home in Dallas tx where they all disagreed with me going to Mexico to do this procedure. I was sucessful with stopping smokiing 2 weeks before surgery but have not been sucessfull with the 2wk liquid diet, i thought the latter would have been easier, but not! I never gave up i did the liquid diet best i could on the road because my profession requires much travel in which the gain balloned... none the less ive read many success stories about patients goin to mexico and a few horror stories. But I'm mainly wanting more info on the doctor Luis Cervantes of Guadalajara Tijuana Mexico I booked him through a site called Mexico Bariatrics, In which I went through a patient coordinator. I also want to know what are the risks besides Fatty liver if you don't strictly follow the liquid diet?I am a self pay patient so I guess aint no turning back now, thank you!

I had surgery in Mexico 10 days ago, but not with your surgeon. I was scared too and my family was incredibly nervous. Everything went just fine though. I found the facility to be clean and the staff very efficient. I got good care. It is in their best interests to make sure your surgery is sucessful, orherwise word gets out and they lose business. I'm sorry you're alone, but I will be thinking of you and praying it all goes very smoothly for you!

Praying for you! I have read and watched a few stories of people who have had their surgery in Mexico. I also know someone personally and their procedures went well. They do not regret it at all. Sorry that you do not have anyone going with you, but there will be other patients there with you who will be going through the same thing so you will in a way have a buddy there.

Sending prayers for safe travels and a safe surgery as well as a speedy recovery! *hugs*

Gucci, just said prayer all goes well for you. I am in PA so don't km now anyone had it done in Mexico but looks like many have which hope brings you comfort. Stay strong & if believe -you may be physically alone but God is always with us & also we are all will be thinking & praying for you. My soon to be ex husband was suppose to stay overnight with me while I was in overnight but left me & was never there when surgeon came to talk to me after when check on you post-op, or when I was doing my laps. Very important to get up & walk every 4 hrs like they will usually have you (helps with gas pain in shoulder that may be trapped in body some -usually left shoulder & walking helps prevent blood clots, if they put pressure pump devices on legs or stocking - accept th also -same thing as walking they are a blood clot prevention after inpatient surgeries. I have faith all will go well for you, please let us know how you are doing after & if ever want to talk -this is great place to do that. Just remember you will not be fully alone. Good luck -stay strong, YOU GOT THIS!!!! It is a new beginning like others have said to me & you & so,so true. :)

I want to create a room or passage/forum specifically for sleevers getting done in mexico!!!! ok, I'm going to tell you guys what has happened thus far& thank you for your prayers and concerns, they really meant a lot to me!!! well as planned the driver came and picked me up from my San Diego hotel, with 2 other sleevers getting done the same day also, took us across the border and to the facility Hospital Guadalara, there I met my patient coordinator whom I had been sending my monies to and whom I had most of the contact wirh ove the last couple of months, I was surprised the facility was clean modern and the staff was exceptionally kind and knowledge , blood test came back fine & after my test results, seem like the staff kicke in to 5th gear, b4 I knew it I was in recovery safe sound and hungry!!! love you guys ill gv a more detailed description later, I'm tired an pain meds are weighing in!!!</p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
