Start slow and get clearance from your doctor.

I like to lift heavy and had a pretty good 3x a week schedule going prior to surgery on top of cycling & kick boxing. I'm only in my second week post-op and doc wants me to wait a minimum of six weeks before lifting again. I'm looking forward to my regular workout schedule, this walking is for the birds!

I used to lift 5-6 days a week prior to going through a nasty divorce.

You may be well over the divorce by now...If not...Use that nasty divorce as motivation. Get angry. Use the aggression/adrenaline. Get into beast mode at the gym. lol

Use your gym staff. That's what they are there for. Have them show you the equipment and form.

I use body building.com for information.

Exercise database:

Pic the muscle you want to work on.. The data base will pull up several exercises. It will show how to use the equipment correctly and form. It will give you a video tutorial.

Find a plan that works for your goals

My surgeon cleared me for a gym at 16th day after surgery, recommended to start from routine for beginners and stop in case of any pain. I started the same day and it was wonderful, apart from being very sore for the next few days. I'm gradually adding weights, but still far from my before-surgery numbers.

I mostly walked the first couple of months as I wasn't cleared to lift over 10 lbs until about 6 weeks out. I found it helpful to hire a personal trainer who made sure I lifted properly during my weight loss phase as my center of gravity and body awareness changed as the pounds came off.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
