mslove8133 0 Posted January 1, 2017 The only people that know about my surgery is my husband and my daughter, If I tell any of my family members, I will have everyone at the hospital keeping up drama...LOL
trxprincess05 0 Posted January 2, 2017 I don't plan on telling a soul. Not even my mom except maybe to say I'm going to Mexico for the weekend and to check up on me. Any vets who went the same route? How did you deal with questions? Any pre-op folks deciding to keep it to themselves? My husband is the only one who knows I'm considering the sleeve and he will be the only one. Daisalana 33 Posted January 2, 2017 I was out n proud with my band. Didn't bother me. I've been telling everyone I'm swapping to sleeve too. I never felt the need to keep it a secret. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
halftheman.co.za 59 Posted January 2, 2017 (edited) It's quite scary to hear people say "not telling a soul" if people in your lives can't support a desicion you are making to better yourself, surround yourself with better people. A MAJOR part of succeeding with this journey is a support system. midia 7 Posted January 2, 2017 I really prefer to keep this as a secret, I don't know why!? so just my immediate family and 2 of my close friends know about my surgery and i told to any one else that i am on a strict diet which is true! kheter55 33 Posted January 2, 2017 I haven't told many people. Only immediate family knows plus one nay sayer. I realized I didn't want to field the "oh you're just going the easy route" comment. That's just ignorance. Besides, I know what I want and what I'm doing and am not looking for approval. I apologize in advance for negative people who will hurt your feelings. I know what it's like to feel like you are finally doing something good for yourself and being shot down by others. Best of Luck!!! Only my children and husband know. Haven't even told my brother or sister. Not even my closest friend. This is personal to me right now, eventually I'll tell my siblings and friend what I've done but right now, no. sonkat5355 70 Posted January 3, 2017 Good question! I have told close friends, my kids, and just one person at work. I have to tell my principal I am going to be out for surgery but feel I don't have to say for what because of privacy laws. When too many people know you are under a microscope, checking in you, seeing if you succeed or fail much like regular dieting. I'm retiring in June so I don't have to explain except that I am dieting. I'm not going to act like I finally found the miracle diet. I will tell people I am close with and trust what I did when they see the results. I want positivity not negativity in my life.
