First Post Op Doc Visit

Recommended Posts

I am 9 days post op and officially on soft foods for the next month. I am down 15 pounds, my incisions look awesome and I have very little discomfort from the surgery left. I am still building back my energy. I get to start on my supplements now as well. My surgeon told me that now I get my Protein from foods and no more Protein shakes. However, I know that it will be impossible to get that much protein in the small amount of food that I am able to eat so I am going to continue to rely on them for now.

I am excited for this journey. I walk daily and it really helps me build on my energy level. Will start back to crossfit in mid January. I am ready to post a BIG weight loss and trying to be patient.

Good luck to you all!!!

I agree about the Protein, I cannot eat enough food even at 6 weeks out to get the Protein I need. But the shakes are making me feel yucky too. I am struggling but it gets better every day. I can't imagine anyone 9 days out being able to get enough food down to eliminate the shakes? ??

You have already lost a lot, don't compare yourself to others, you had a low starting weight.

Yay!! Sounds like you are off to a great start! I will be one year out on January 5. I still have a Premier shake every morning. It starts my day on the right foot and helps me hit my daily Protein goal. I was probably 7-8 MONTHS out before I could put down 100 Gms of Protein a day without a shake. Just letting you know my journey. Good luck!

@@Tosha-248 how do you like those? my doctor wants us to only use Protein that contains at LEAST 25 g per serving. after the surgery, We are supposed to mix one scoop with 4 oz of milk/water to make sure we get at least 75 g per day while recooperating.

Does your brand come in powder also? Do you like it?

They taste like sweet and sour Jello but I pour half the bottle in 4oz of Water for Breakfast and the other half four lunch and it taste like sugar free koolaid then I have a premier Protein shake that I sip on all day 30g of Protein and the New whey liquid Protein is 42g of protein that gives me a total of 72g a day plus whatever I eat and I feel great so far

I am about 3 1/2 months out and I still can't get all of my Protein in. I had quit drinking Protein shakes because I thought I wasn't supposed to be drinking them this far out. But at my 3 month checkup, my doctor told me to start drinking them again....to get my protein in one way or another. And they still make me kind of nauseous. I definitely can't drink them in the morning. Yuk. I am 67 pounds down as of today. ????

I used it my chicken broth because I wanted something hot being it's so cold outside I don't drink coffee but I wanted to get my Protein in first before anything and I used it and OMG!!!! AWESOME!!!! No taste and if didn't change the consistency I will drink thus forever thanks soooo much BP's

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
