Corrie2016 29 Posted December 14, 2016 I was just curious if anyone has been referred to a functional medical specialist/doctor. My nutritionist suggested I go to get a check on my adrenal responses and overall hormone balances. Its quite expensive (insurance typically doesn't pay for it) and a lengthy process. I was just wondering if anyone has gone to one and what your experience with them as been.
gonefromhere 32 Posted December 15, 2016 I have not seen one. To be honest, it sounds a bit like chiropractors to me. Maybe you can find a good individual, but the field is awash in psuedo-science. Why did she suggest a functional medical specialist instead of an endocrinologist? They are usually in charge of hormones and your adrenals, and are covered by insurance. wlshopeful 0 Posted December 19, 2016 Personally, I recommend it. It is a long process to go through because they do not just throw you on a prescription pill to cover what your symptoms are. I have never heard of a bad experience, although every person is different. Some people have an easier road of recovery than others from hormonal imbalances. Hope that helps!
