SassyMedic 14 Posted December 15, 2016 Oh that looks heavenly. I bet coughing is so much easier with that! I'm going to have to ask my surgeon at post op why he doesn't use them! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
bjgarcia123 2 Posted December 15, 2016 I didn't get sent home with that either. I am with Kaiser. I was going to get one this weekend anyways Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Who'sThere 331 Posted December 15, 2016 I am revision patient as I had lapband in 2009. I had one then, and yes, it is VERY helpful! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App
Alexis99 67 Posted January 2, 2017 My middle is what still hurts and I'm on postop day 6. I was told that the right side pain is likely due to the liver retractor used (so much for liver shrinking diet?). The pain is much less when I move as much as before. Now it's more soreness than pain. Focusing on bowel movements now lol. I had one yesterday and several today -- it's a poop party! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Strange question..Does your poop look different then before surgery? YankeeBizChick 3 Posted January 4, 2017 Good to hear all this. I am 4+ weeks out and still have that left-side incision pain when I get up/down, cough, stretch, etc. I spoke with my surgeon about it yesterday and like people are saying here, that is normal as much of the work was done there and should go away soon. It makes me feel better to know it is not abnormal. My surgeon doesn't use binders either, but I bought one on Amazon. Helps for a little bit, but then I have to remove it as it starts feeling like it's too much.

Alexis99 67 Posted January 10, 2017 I actually had a bm the day after surgery -- liquid only but it was bc my gas pain was bad and they gave me a dulcolax suppository in the hospital to get the gas moving along. It worked on the gas and let some liquid stool out too the night after surgery. I am ordered to use Miralax daily and was recommended to use colace, so I've been compliant with that. Also got some benefiber to add to my hydration fluids. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Hey Jill, are you still taking miralax and colace daily? It hurts bad when I go...Does it help you? Was thinking taking it daily would be too much on our system. Tia! Jill_Me 100 Posted January 13, 2017 Hey Tia. I haven't needed the Miralax or colace for a while. You could try just the colace but more hydration could help too. Also benefiber. You could try more hydration and benefiber alone if you're worried about taking the colace every day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
musicgirl 5 Posted January 13, 2017 Is there anyone out there who knows if the surgeons fill your stomach cavity with gas if you have an "open rny "? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Blenda Gail 13 Posted January 15, 2017 It took 3 weeks for my left side pain to go away. I was worried because I thought this was not normal, then my surgeon said that everyone pretty much has left side pain after surgery, so I relaxed
Alexis99 67 Posted January 15, 2017 I happy to report that at a little over 2 weeks post op, my left side pain is gone!! And, I have been able to sleep on my side and stomach for about a week now. Jill_Me 100 Posted January 17, 2017 Is there anyone out there who knows if the surgeons fill your stomach cavity with gas if you have an "open rny "? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Hi. If they tried a laparoscopic approach first, then they probably did fill the abdomen with air. Usually when they do open it is because they tried lap first and it wasn't cutting it so they went for the open after trying that.
