Before and after fill rules

Recommended Posts

I feel kind of silly for not remembering but what are the eating rules before and after your fill. I'm getting a fill tomorrow and have been eating lite today and was wondering do I need to be on liquids today and on liquids for 2 days after.? What works best for you guys. I'm seeing a new fill Dr. and was given no rules from his nurse as yet.

I got my first fill on Friday, I was asked to fast for 2 hours before the fill, then I was on soft food for one day, then back to normal food. I think it depends on the doc though, and also the size of the fill.

My band doc is only about 8 miles away, so I can go frequently. They put in less than 1cc, point 8 actually, which is very conservative.

Good Luck, you will be fine

Thanks ... went for my fill today procedure took from 2:00 to 4:30 had problems.. doc wants to do surgery to carve off some of the excess fat that is starting to hang and getting in the way of the port.. makes it hard to fill.

My surgeon changed his policy and now says that patients can eat normally before and after a fill. I have done that 3 times and had no problems.

Had my first fill this morning. No fasting beforehand. Doc recommends liquids today, and gradually return to solids...more or less see how I feel.

I'm almost afraid to try eating...anyone else feel that way?

I just had my first fill Friday, I was terrified, but it went well. They didnt tell me not to eat before or after. I can tell a difference but nothing too bad, the first couple of times I ate I tried to eat too fast and felt that pressure. But I have the hang of it now. Glad to have it so I can keep on losing.

Good luck to all

It's a needle with numbing medicine in it.

Than the needle for the fill done under xray and flouro.

It was quick and pain free and today I am very tight!

Heck yesterday I was super tight!

I luv my docs!

I don't have to do any diet.. I normally eat lunch on our trip to get my fill.. and I don't have to do any liquids or anything post-fill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
