Sore stomach two week post op?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, another random question from me.

Tomorrow I am two weeks post op (yay) and I was wondering if a very sore stomach is normal? It feels like I've done 100 sit-ups lol. So it's definitely not the right side regular pain. Haven't had this type of pain before in my recovery yet, just wondering if this is part of the recovery stage or if I messed up.

The reason I ask is because yesterday I was eating apple sauce and definitely over ate some, I'm scared I may injured my stomach.

The doctors told me as you increase activity post op it's normal for the pain to get worse temporarily. I was in worse

Pain at 2 weeks post op then I was at 1 week post op. I went in and they said it was muscular and time and cold and heat compresses. Sue enough about 3 days later the pain started going away. I'm almost 3 1/2 weeks post op now and feeling much better, still sore near belly button inside at times. Hope you recover soon, your body has a natural ability to heal itself.

I'm 12 weeks out and went shopping Saturday and Sunday I had pain/soreness in my stomach both days. I'm thinking it was combination of carrying heavy purse and walking so much more than usual. Just fine Monday so I think it is just a longer healing process than I thought.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
