Got confused today re eating bugles ....

Recommended Posts

(So the OP is not from the Divided States of America. She truly did NOT know what bugles were.)

I guess the same way an American would be confused by someone from England saying they ate a "spotted d**k" by sucking on it to make it mushy...........Hey wait a minute. It isn't as suggestive with a bugle snack.< /div>
Really BariatricPal? Spotted d i c k is a real dessert.

I guess we can't use the word "d**k.

As in:

d**k Tracy

d**k Van Dyke

d**k Cheney

d**k's Sporting Goods

d**k Cavett

d**k and Jane

etc.

Same here... I never saw the post from the newbie, this post wasn't about a newbies question. But rather about the OP observation of how a bugle if it was spelled correctly, would be on the diet plan. And then her following thought processes as she was unfamiliar with the snack food Bugles.

It was hilarious until it was sidetracked by people saying it was rude and mean etc. I am thinking to myself, how in the world is this mean and rude? Then someone comes along and has to knock our building blocks over and link this thread to another thread.

People If we can't laugh at the mundane and inane we create a generation of people that are requiring "safe spaces". Oh wait to late. The only safe space is the play pen at your Mama's, if you can't handle the real world, go back to that while those of us that have figured out how to survive in a "mean" world continue to get the joke about words and the hilarity that the lack of knowledge can cause.

DS performed 11/28/16. SW/HW 380 lbs.

If you didn't see the original post, you have no context through which your reply even matters, so...

Fortunately I was schooled about the other post. That is why I found the correlation, of simply using the term bugle caused a whole different thread unrelated to the "newbies" question. That is why I still didn't understand how they think it was making fun of her when it was actually the term that caused the hilarity.

12/14/16: CW 350 lbs

I thought the initial post was pretty funny cause she didn't know about Bugles!! We have Bugles in Canada but I had to google "collards" that everyone kept talking about! Different strokes for different folks!! Now let me explain to you about "All Dressed Chips"!!

I LOVE those chips! They sell them at 7-11

All Dressed and ketchup chips are the 2 most notable missing items from most US shelves.

Philadelphia also makes special chip dips (not just flavoured cream cheeses) that for some reason are MIA.

And Smarties. No, M&Ms are not the same thing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
