Angie1227 2 Posted December 13, 2016 I'm 2 months post-op and have had a feeling of food getting stuck at the stomach opening since about 1 month out. I get the feeling no matter what I eat or drink (even Water and Protein shakes), and no matter how long I take to chew and how long between bites. I had a barium swallow that showed nothing at 1 month, so my doc just said chew better and eat slower. Today at my 2 month check up, I pretty much begged her to do something. I'm miserable and don't want to eat/drink anything. (Good side is that I've lost 58lbs in 2 months.) She scheduled an EGD (scope) for next week. Has anyone else had the same feeling of food getting stuck? If so, what helped? Sent from my SM-T813 using the BariatricPal App
Mindy78 372 Posted December 13, 2016 Me me. Walking and waiting it out. Not much helps. It's like after 2 baby bites my throat closes. Thick liquids are better for me than thin or solids. Since week 5 I'm on week 10 now Sent from my 5054N using the BariatricPal App
BigViffer 3,544 Posted December 13, 2016 This was me as well. It is not uncommon either. I found that eating while standing and walking around afterwards helped tremendously. I still will get up and walk around right after eating at almost 2 years out. Your surgeon is telling the truth, slow methodical chewing is the best thing to do. You may be eating faster than you realize.
adriant 109 Posted December 13, 2016 I am exactly the same, everything seems to just stick and gives me huge pain on the right side under my ribs. They are putting a scope down there on the 9th January, why not any sooner I couldn't tell you. Keep us updated on the the outcome.
