KarenG. 0 Posted September 16, 2007 What number do you put down in your log? The doctor's scale? Do you put down the lowest number you see first thing in the morning? I can't decide how best to keep track ... any thoughts? I know it is not a right or wrong thing but was wondering what you guys do.
Biggest Loser 0 Posted September 16, 2007 I use my home scale to keep track since I only see the doctor once per month but I did figure out that his scale is exactly 4 pounds more than mine but the total pounds lost each time is the same so I just use mine. ruhereyet 0 Posted September 16, 2007 I don't have a scale at home (I dropped it and it shattered about six weeks ago). I'm choosing not to replace it, as I don't want to get so fixated on my weight that it's controlling my life. I figure I'll update as I see my surgeon...and when that dwindles down, then I'll weigh at the gym about once a week.
surfbored 0 Posted September 16, 2007 I weigh on my home scale each morning. I only see my doctor about every 3 months - too long to wait to see if something I am doing, or not doing - isn't working. Also, weighing at home I can be more consistent in terms of what I am wearing (nothing) and the time of day, etc. My doctor's scale always shows a few pounds more. But the relative loss is the same. So, I use the home scale for more consistent feedback. Surfbored
MissMom24 2 Posted September 16, 2007 I would weigh myself at home. Seeing that you don't see you doctor every week (or everyday for that matter). I would weigh wherever you can do it on a consistent basis.
skyeblu79 0 Posted September 16, 2007 I go by my scale at home. My home scale and doctor's scales are very close. I don't go to the doctor often enough to just go by their scale. I like to keep better track.
Boo Boo Kitty 3 Posted September 16, 2007 I post here by my Dr's scale, only because it is 3 pounds off mine. So when I weigh myself at home I get to take 3 pounds away which makes me feel good...teee heee....
ragdollx19 1 Posted September 17, 2007 I weigh on my home scale first thing in the morning. I only log what it says in the morning, but then I dont weight myself other than that. I also only add to my log if the weight goes down, unless its my weekly weigh in. I am obsessed with my weight but more so with the way my clothes fit and how the monthly pics look! Chickie 15 Posted September 17, 2007 I go by my scale, since it's the one I use most.
StrawberryGrl 0 Posted September 17, 2007 The drug store in my town has a heart rate/blood pressure/weight machine that I go to and use about every 2 weeks. I know if I did it every day I would be obsessed and depressed if I gained instead of lost. Plus seeing that larger number of weight dropped is way more fun then just seeing a 1lb differance. kacee 3 Posted September 22, 2007 Some may argue with me, but this works for me. I have a digital scale. I weigh first thing in the morning (naked after a good pee and picking all the belly button lint out). I mark down the pounds and tenths. Every day. I can read my body like a BOOK now. For instance. I had a few glasses of wine last night. It won't show up today, but probably tomorrow I will see a pound come back on. It will hang for about 48 hours and then drop. I can calculate my plateaus and see exactly how they work, when they come on, how long they last. I can put my weight up next to my caloric intake (I log ALL my foods) and see exactly what causes what. No questions, no mystery. When I go to the doctor's his scale ALWAYS weigh about 3 pounds more than mine, so I don't get freaked out and I just accept it and expect it.
kacee 3 Posted September 22, 2007 seeing that larger number of weight dropped is way more fun then just seeing a 1lb differance. I think it is all relative. Because my scale has tenths of a pound, THOSE are actually the ones I watch. They mean as much to me as the pounds do...actually the pounds are like gravy. The tenths go down and then all of a sudden the whole NUMBER changes and it's WHOOOPPPEEEEE!!! I can get VERY excited over a quarter pound gone!
brandda 0 Posted September 22, 2007 I weigh once per week on my home scale first thing when I roll out of bed Monday mornings. Any more than that to me just sets me up for frustration.
kacee 3 Posted September 22, 2007 I imagine I will start to weigh less frequently as I near my goal and things naturally slow down. Right now, however, I am seeing so much action on the scales, it is incredibly motivating for me.
Jeni 85 0 Posted September 22, 2007 Every Thursday morning i weigh myself on my home scale and write in down in my little notebook which also has fills and weigh in at the dr. office just so i know according to his scale. But you gotta stick to the same scale for your own sanity (each scale will make you weigh different and the times of day also have a effect):cry
